Race/cultural identity
America is known as a melting pot of different ethnic groups and backgrounds. However, we are supposedly united as equal. Or so it seems, right? As people, we look at certain situations through a prism. I believe that America is still segregated and still has a long way to go.Even at Groves, we are still separated into cliques based on race and things of that nature. Also when we look at the inner cities, they are all segregated and are living in poverty. People generally filter their views of a certain race on past experiences even though everyone is different.

I think this is true, a lot of the people we hang out with today are people of the same ethnic background and even at Groves we have a long way to go.I say this because of the incident last year in the middle of the year where a two Groves students were involved in a racial discrimination issue. And it took a protect to be able to get that student to delete the post off twitter and get suspended. We do have a long way to go to have a color blind society, but if people could see that we are all the same then it will work out.
ReplyDeleteIn USA, race can sometimes be considered imaginary, or simply not real. Some implications of this notion are the negative stereotypes towards a certain race that are not always true. Despite our genetic differences among certain people, we are actually similar and some of us can share common ancestors or backgrounds.

We need to be more of community .Because are teacher showed us on this one website how segregated and how blacks live with blacks and whites live with whites, and i just think we need to come together more even here at groves. Because if we start here at groves and other schools around the area we can change this one state at a time
