Do you think it is fair or right for men/females to go to prison for being unable to pay child support?

I believe that it is unfair for a man/women to go to prison for being unable to pay child support. I fell this way because you are taking a person's freedom away for being unable to come up with the money. second of all you put a person in prison with real criminals with people who have done big time things. my 3rd point is many mothers don't even use the money for there child they spend it on them selves. that's why i believe it is not right and unfair.

    i agree with this statement. It is an unnecessary waste of money to spend in prison using tax money.

    I agree with the statement that we should not spend money on people who don't pay child support because there are more violent people that could take their place in jail. But I don't agree with the fact that many parents use the money for themselves and not the children. Here in Michigan if the custodial parent doesn't live in Michigan then the support is sent out of state. And 10 states in the US have you prove what the money is being spent on and the other states it is optional.
