SuperSize Me

In Morgan Spurlock's Super Size Me, he binges on eating fatty foods at McDonalds for a month and shows us the extreme effects of the food industry on American society. This documentary does show a problem with the food industry. That is that Americans eat too much fast food and are developing health problems because of this. It doesn't really offer much solutions other than the obvious eat healthy and exercise a lot.He treats the obesity issue with some source of seriousness but with a humor-like tone. His method does compare to Michael Moore in that advertising does appeal to younger people like through the use of clowns, toys, kids meals, etc.

In this Cadillac Escalade commercial, some questions about this product set our minds off to buy it. Like driving in the city doesn't need a big car. It just shows off style of the car and that it get 20 mpg. Its main purpose is to sell the car and prove that despite it being a gas-guzzling machine, it still gets decent mpg for that car. It shows that American culture is about being big and flashy just like the car is.

THE CHANGE OF ADVERTISING

Advertising now is more pathos and ethos now than back in the beginnings of marketing. today we know to move or engage people to commercials you have to appeal to them and those advertising back then was more the approach of using ER VERBS like greatER, biggER, bettER, and words like these used to encourage buyers to buy their product. But now everything works now so the advertising business had to try other ways to appeal to us. so they began the way the advertise now through pathos and ethos and even some times logos.
In the advertising industry, we as consumers are constantly being bombarded with new info about a product. Some of these ethos appeal to our senses like the way a product is portrayed or how it compares to its competitors. I agree with writer Michael Sandel in that marketing just comes naturally to appeal to us. Some ways business can appeal to us is through the use of celebrities, emotional stories, or through explicit material. Market has become an improtant part of life in the USA as Sandel writes.

DEFORCE

In the video today we learn the after effects of the riots. we also learned why the riots happened in Detroit. we learned that the riots happened because the city of Detroit was not as racially as equally as the american people around the country. There was a lot of racial tension between abd many policy put in place like S.T.R.E.S.S  or red lining.

Deforce

In Deforce documentary, we learn of the different reasons of why Detroit is on economic decline. Many of these reasons are related to race and segregation and prejudice. Maybe some tips to improve Detroit's situation is to integrate the community more with different races and have more black police. I think segregation only hurts the economy within Detroit because it doesn't promote the sharing of ideas for new culture and things of that nature.

Race/cultural identity

America is known as a melting pot of different ethnic groups and backgrounds. However, we are supposedly united as equal. Or so it seems, right? As people, we look at certain situations through a prism. I believe that America is still segregated and still has a long way to go.Even at Groves, we are still separated into cliques based on race and things of that nature. Also when we look at the inner cities, they are all segregated and are living in poverty. People generally filter their views of a certain race on past experiences even though everyone is different.

what do you think about the Jeremy McDole shooting in Delaware?

I'm just fed up with this police brutality of my people man. I can Literally take no more of this. There are not going to be happy until the African american people rise up and have a riot that's going to tear up this country. African Americans are tired of being oppressed by this racist system we live in.now come on man there is no reason to shoot this man.He is in a wheelchair which means he can't run away from you or anything so why would you kill him, and they shot him multiple times with shotguns and pistols. the said put the gun down but he never had a gun and even if he did one shot with with a shotgun is enough. i am just very displeased with this man and angry that these police get caught on tape shooting an innocent black man and still doesn't get charged with murder man. enough is enough i just wonder i'm i next to be shot and killed by the police for being black.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TC1viLiHGZ0

Mean Girls

IN the Mean Girls  movie, the Plastics represent the typical spoiled white high school girls. They are like the perfect barbie dolls who think they are better than everyone. The movie also steotypes different types of people based on their different interests and race. The movie represents women and feminism in a negative way by showing American girls as property of men and shows them as incapable people.

Do you think it is fair or right for men/females to go to prison for being unable to pay child support?

I believe that it is unfair for a man/women to go to prison for being unable to pay child support. I fell this way because you are taking a person's freedom away for being unable to come up with the money. second of all you put a person in prison with real criminals with people who have done big time things. my 3rd point is many mothers don't even use the money for there child they spend it on them selves. that's why i believe it is not right and unfair.
