I believe in modern society, certain toys make us feel a certain way towards a gender. For example, a GI Joe figure has more muscular biceps than before and the barbie doll is more feminine in dress and maybe the way she is positioned. This in a way distorts our viewpoint of a certain gender and influences us in a bad way. More muscular could mean more violent, or more girlish means a wimp.

  1. I agree with the statement that more muscles can mean that a man is more "manly", but do also think that in society today that if you show that you are sensitive that means that you are more feminine than being girlish. Because girls have the same problem where it is that you have more muscle and wear sweats all the time that you are more like a boy than if you are very thin and wear skirts and dresses to look and act like a girl

    1. Dolls put a standard on girls to look this way and you will be rich or you will have lots of boyfriends too. But I think that girls use this doll as a role model for what they should look like and we shouldn't do that because girls need to be able to be themselves.

  2. In the Simpsons Lisa vs. Malibu Stacey, a new doll comes out which is like the barbie dolls of the Simpsons. These sort of action figure represent what girls are supposed to be portrayed as. It makes them less capable and more dependent. It brings in the notion of women being more attractive with rich husbands that spoil them. I think this notion is in a way sexist.
